Calder Classics invites high school students to join the Rome: Reading Latin + Ancient History program, offering a unique ten-day experience where the study of Latin and ancient history is enhanced by the exploration of Rome’s historical and cultural landmarks. Students will live in a centrally located apartment, immersing themselves in both the language and the daily life of Italy.

Program Features

  • Students will engage in daily Latin grammar review and literary analysis, gaining sight-reading experience with Roman authors such as Catullus, Horace, and Vergil
  • The program includes guided visits to significant historical sites like the Forum Romanum, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum, where students will explore the art and architecture that ties directly to the literature studied
  • Evenings are dedicated to enjoying Italy's culinary and cultural offerings.
