British Youth Music Theatre’s (BYMT) Musical Theatre Camps offer an immersive and creative experience for young performers aged 11-17, with an Advanced Skills Camp for those aged 17-21. Hosted at various boarding schools and university campuses, these six-day summer camps provide professional training in acting, singing, movement, writing, and instrumental playing, led by experienced West End professionals. Participants collaborate intensively to devise and perform an original musical, sharing their creation with friends, family, and guests at the end of the week.

The camps focus on developing performance skills and confidence within a supportive and fun social environment. With a specialized pastoral care system, BYMT ensures a safe experience for all attendees, while a Bursary Scheme is available to help subsidize costs. The main focus of BYMT is on musical theatre. Participants gain instruction in acting, singing, movement, writing, devising, and instrumental playing. Attendees work closely with experienced theatre professionals to create a new musical piece by the end of their camp. For older participants (17-21), there’s also a focus on audition techniques, drama school preparation, and an academic understanding of musical theatre.
