Summary

Leaf is a nonprofit that supports exceptional teenagers in exploring how they can best save lives, help others, or change the course of history. Each summer, we run four free, 5-week online fellowships that combine Oxbridge-style learning, thought-provoking content, and a community of smart, curious, and ambitiously altruistic peers. Whether you’re diving into global priorities in The Mathematics of Morality, applying scientific thinking in Biology for a Better Tomorrow, learning from the past in History to Shape History (for the better), or tackling urgent questions in Dilemmas and Dangers in AI, each programme is designed to help you explore how your skills and interests could make a real difference.

Accepted applicants gain access to facilitated tutorials, mentored projects, and Q&As with professionals working on some of the world’s most pressing challenges, plus possible grant funding to pursue impactful follow-up projects. All applicants are given access to our self-guided online courses. We aim to equip young people not just with knowledge, but with the tools, community, and confidence to take bold and meaningful action—this summer and beyond.

Academics

Each Leaf fellowship blends self-paced online learning with small-group discussions led by experienced facilitators. Participants engage deeply with challenging ideas through curated resources, problem-solving tasks, or essay writing—depending on the course—while developing critical thinking and communication skills through weekly discussions with like-minded peers.

Extracurriculars

Beyond the core learning, Leaf offers a vibrant extracurricular experience including talks and Q&As with professionals, peer-led sessions, community events, and fun activities like Olympiad practice, debates, or games. Fellows can also connect through Discord, paired 1:1s, and group socials, building friendships and networks that often last well beyond the summer.

Accommodation

Leaf is committed to being inclusive and supportive of all participants, including those with learning differences. Our flexible, self-paced content, small-group discussions, and range of communication channels allow us to adapt to different learning styles—and we encourage participants to let us know any specific needs so we can provide appropriate support.
