Make-up artists are the visionaries responsible for creating both beauty and monstrosity. They can create something as simple as making someone look beautiful or plain and can also make someone look old, tired, or create a fantasy being or character.
This new summer course is ideal if you’re looking forward to a career as a make-up artist or intend to pursue further studies in this subject. It’ll give you the skills and techniques needed to explore the key creative role make-up artists play in performance, fashion, film, and television. Working in our dedicated make-up studios, you’ll be introduced to a diverse range of make-up and hair skills, as well as explore special effects and prosthetic make-up for film and television. A series of tutor-led demonstrations and inspiration sessions will help you to increase your knowledge and understanding of the make-up design and research process. You’ll be encouraged to experiment with techniques, materials and styles and will take part in extended practical sessions that give you the opportunity to create your own looks. These will be recorded in a series of scheduled photoshoots to add to your portfolio or CV.
