Summary

The International Youth Media Summit (IYMS) is a unique annual event bringing together young delegates (filmmakers and diplomats aged 18-35) worldwide. Together, they collaborate on hands-on film production, creating impactful short films addressing global issues. Over the past 19 years, 1,700 participants from more than 80 countries have produced 140 short films, each tackling urgent social problems. The seven recognized global issues addressed each year are Discrimination, Environment, Health, Poverty, Violence, Women’s Rights, and Youth Empowerment.

Program Features

  • Celebrate two decades of youth empowerment in the historic city of Karlovac, Croatia
  • Collaborate with global youth to produce impactful short films addressing critical social issues
  • Engage in hands-on workshops with expert mentors in filmmaking, storytelling, and media production
  • Explore and honor cultural heritage through diverse art forms like music, dance, and film
  • Build lasting international connections and partnerships while advocating for global change.

What's Included?

  • Three meals a day, with special diets available

  • All special events: The Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Talent Show and dance parties
  • Housing: depending on your choice of room (single, double, triple)
  • Transportation to and from the city of Karlovac from Zagreb airport only (in case you fly in to other airports in Croatia, you will have to arrange your own transport – we will provide you with help/instructions based on the city you arrive to).

Some key activities will include: colllaborative film production sessions focusing on the Seven Issues & the Summit theme, workshops on filmmaking, media production, and cultural heritage preservation, panel discussions with global experts on issues such as cultural identity, globalization, and youth empowerment, screenings and exhibitions of films and media projects created by participants, networking sessions to build connections among youth leaders, professionals, and sponsors.
