Humanities & Liberal Arts US Summer Programme, with Summer Springboard

Outside the classsroom, Summer Springboard will keep you busy with an action-packed programme of extracurricular activities and educational field trips, including campus tours at prestigious nearby universities and visits to relevant companies in your chosen industry.

Whichever USA location you choose, you'll get to immerse yourself in the local culture and visit the must-visit attractions and historic landmarks of the local area on full-day excursions with your new friends.

In New York, you'll explore Central Park and Grand Central Station, in Boston you'll discover the Freedom Trail and at Berkley you'll see The Golden Gate Bridge and even catch a baseball game! There are different and creative activities, games and social events on offer every evening.

Summer Springboard's programmes are, quite literally, a springboard for college life and beyond.

Its courses are focused on preparing students for top US colleges - such as Harvard University and Stanford University - both academically and personally: there are over 60 different courses split into six academic 'tracks' available to choose from, all of which are taught by industry experts.

You'll be able to learn law from someone who has argued before the Supreme Court or write creatively under the guidance of a published author. Summer Springboard are passionate about delivering dynamic, hands-on learning both in and outside of the classroom.

There are plenty of subject matter-specific field trips and skills workshops, as well as fascinating guest speaker events (past speakers have been from Google, Bloomberg and the United Nations), and there are guided campus tours at other leading American universities.

To reach UC Berkeley by air, the closest major airport is Oakland International Airport, where you can take public transit via BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to downtown Berkeley, followed by local buses or a short walk to campus.

If traveling by train, Amtrak's Capitol Corridor service stops at Berkeley station, providing direct access to the university area. Both options offer convenient and efficient routes for reaching UC Berkeley from afar, catering to diverse travel preferences.

Fly to Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut, then take a shuttle, taxi, or rental car for the 50-mile journey south to New Haven, home of Yale University. Fly to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City.

From JFK, take a train (e.g., Amtrak) or a combination of subway and train to New Haven, Connecticut, which is about 80 miles away from JFK.

To reach UC San Diego by air, the nearest major airport is San Diego International Airport.

From there, you can take public transit options such as the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) buses or the San Diego Trolley to downtown San Diego, then transfer to the UC San Diego Blue Line Shuttle, which provides direct service to the campus.

If traveling by train, you can take an Amtrak train to the San Diego Santa Fe Depot, followed by the MTS buses or trolley to UC San Diego. Both air and train options offer convenient access to the university, ensuring smooth travel for visitors and students alike.

To reach Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, fly into San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, which offers domestic flights and is approximately 5 miles away from the campus. Alternatively, take an Amtrak train to the San Luis Obispo station, conveniently located near the university.

Taxis, rental cars, and rideshare services, are available for the short journey to Cal Poly.

To reach the University of Michigan by plane, fly to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), then take ground transportation or a connecting flight to Ann Arbor Municipal Airport (ARB). From there, use local transportation options like taxis or ride-sharing services to reach campus.

Alternatively, arrive at Ann Arbor Amtrak Station by train and utilize local transit or taxis for the remaining journey to the university.
